Invisible City is a photobook by Jimmi Wing Ka Ho exploring Qingdao and the traces of its colonial past in the contemporary city. Using historical photo archives as a starting point, the project uncovers both visible and hidden remnants of German colonial influence, from restored 19th-century architecture to lesser-known underground infrastructures.
The book examines how history disappears, is rewritten, and continues to shape the urban landscape. Blending archival research with contemporary photography, it offers a visual reflection on memory, urban change, and the lasting impact of colonial legacies.
Invisible City was created as part of the Artist Meets Archive residency of the International Photoszene Cologne at the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum in Cologne.
