Published by Fondazione MAST, this catalogue accompanies the first exhibition in Italy dedicated to the German artist Andreas Gursky.
This Andreas Gursky exhibition showcases forty-one large-format photographs that capture unique perspectives on the contemporary landscape, exploring themes of work, globalization, and the economy. Curated in alignment with the MAST Collection (Manifattura di Arti, Sperimentazione e Tecnologia / Manufacture of Art, Experience, and Technology), the exhibition presents striking views of production sites, distribution centers, consumer spaces, transport hubs, and industries related to energy, food, and finance. Gursky’s monumental images not only frame the modern landscape but also redefine our understanding of the globalized world through vivid depictions of the structures and systems shaping it.
This volume, published on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Fondazione MAST, includes all forty-one exhibited photographs alongside a critical essay by curator Urs Stahel, who sheds new light on the research and practice of a leading international artist whose work pushes the boundaries of photography while deepening our understanding of our times.
