While his wife and daughter indulged in shopping in Kami_oka, a town just south of Yokohama, Daido Moriyama pursued his familiar pastime: wandering the area surrounding the station, teeming with people and towering structures, camera in hand. His wanderings naturally led him to a familiar haunt he affectionately calls "oasis number three": a narrow alley, approximately 50 meters long, tucked between a store and the railway line. This hidden spot, adorned with outdoor ashtrays, attracts gatherings of smokers like Moriyama himself. Here, he savors moments with a cigarette, observing the neighborhood and occasionally capturing snapshots with his camera.
