Eusociality in the EU by Otto Canell Watkins and Robin Watkins
Eusociality in the EU is a unique collaboration between Otto (age 10) and Robin (age 42), blending storytelling, ecology, and social critique. Initially a book about ants and their habitats, it evolves into a whimsical exploration of human behaviors and societal quirks across the European continent.
Through a playful yet reflective lens, the book delves into themes like homelessness, plastic waste, politics, weather patterns, and even fantasy beings. As the world shifted during the eight-year creative process, so did the book’s form, becoming a disorderly yet dynamic tapestry. Part allegory, part nonsensical fable, this 304-page work uses ants as metaphors for community and interconnectedness, inviting readers to rethink collective existence—with a generous sprinkle of imaginative sweetness.
