Io sono Salvo is a monograph that serves as a self-portrait of the Sicilian-born artist Salvo, tracing his artistic journey through his own words and works. The book includes a collection of writings such as the treatise On Painting, unpublished texts, and various interviews, alongside a vast selection of his artworks in chronological order.
After moving to Turin in 1956, Salvo engaged in conceptual research aligned with Arte Povera and artists like Sol LeWitt and Joseph Kosuth. In 1973, he made a "return to painting," a practice he never saw as opposed to conceptual art, and continued a dialogue between the two throughout his 50-year career.
The monograph includes critical essays by Bob Nickas, who explores Salvo’s On Painting, and Elena Volpato, who reassesses his career, emphasizing the intellectual rigor behind his paintings. A detailed chronology by Sara De Chiara rounds out the publication with archival photographs and exhibition history.
