Jamaican Vybz

Since childhood, Ibuki Kase has been immersed in music, especially through his close connections with Jamaican reggae artists in Japan. He even believed he was Jamaican until age ten, shaping his love for music, sociability, and artistic perspective. At seventeen, Kase traveled to Jamaica and began photographing the island. He returned in 2018 and held a widely acclaimed exhibition in Japan.

Jamaican Vybz is Kase’s personal tribute to the people and culture of Jamaica, featuring photographs from multiple visits, including his 2023 trip where he met his musical hero, Buju Banton. This photography book captures the vibrancy, warmth, and spirit of Jamaican life through Kase’s distinctive lens.
