James Banks [Material Information]

In his work, James Banks explores the dynamics and complex systems of the objects and materials he uses. His works combine objects, each with their own story, in a new way that create a new context these then exist in. Banks gives these objects and materials a new meaning, a new life. His interest in color and material properties are clearly visible. The works are a conservation, exploration and repetition of material, form and time. All these aspects come together in the micro and meta levels and result in highly complex, yet visually aesthetic works. This publication gives the readers insights into his most recent work "The Space between Knowledge", a selection of works from 2024/25 and Banks' studio practice.
