Meta Cars

In Meta Cars, Beni Bischof transforms found images of cars into striking visual distortions. Through digital manipulation and radical simplification, the original shapes are abstracted into ghostly, surreal silhouettes that feel both familiar and alien. The result is a series of automotive hybrids with a hypnotic, uncanny appeal. Drawing on the aesthetics of American muscle cars and 1980s–1990s TV shows, Bischof reinterprets retro coolness for the digital age, combining irony, intensity, and unsettling beauty.

Based in St. Gallen, Beni Bischof is a Swiss contemporary artist working across drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and installation. Since 2005, he has self-published Laser magazines to critique pop culture and everyday life with humor and visual excess. His work, including the bespoke eLorean art car Made On Earth By Humans, has been shown internationally and was recognized with the Manor Art Prize St. Gallen in 2015.
