Mountains of Gold – Ludo Groen

Architectural historian Ludo Groen traces the buildings and infrastructures Swiss banks used to trade, move and store gold, from a vault inside the Gotthard to Bernese Oberland hotels, South African mines and a London fondue restaurant. Written like an investigation, the book shows how bankers, officers, politicians and architects worked together in the twentieth century to establish Switzerland as a financial centre.
