Nathalie Du Pasquier’s book, Sometimes Making Something Leads to Nothing, is a visual exploration that echoes her unique approach to painting and design. Structured with colorful blocks that create “chromatic architectures,” the book introduces a new series of pencil drawings. These compositions evoke everyday objects, such as vases, books, and boxes, while also resembling urban landscapes, blending abstract and familiar visuals.
Entirely designed by Du Pasquier herself, this work reflects her evolution from her early Memphis Group days through her journey from object-focused design to abstract painting. After over 40 years of innovation, Du Pasquier’s signature style has become a distinct language of its own.
