The Palais des Expositions in Charleroi was built between 1948 and 1953 as a symbol of Belgian industrial progress and fell into disuse after the decline of coal and steel. This book follows its conversion by AgwA and architecten jan de vylder inge vinck, who removed most of the façade but kept floors, stairs and roof to turn the main hall into an open urban foyer. Six years of photographs by Filip Dujardin and colour-coded drawings that separate old structure, demolition and new work make the process easy to follow, alongside contributions from the architects, engineers and the city.
