To The Artists by Frankfurt-based photographer Peter Loewy opens the doors to the private studios of leading contemporary artists. What started with a visit to David Hockney’s studio grew into an ongoing exploration of creative spaces, ultimately capturing the working environments of 25 artists, including Jeff Koons, Pipilotti Rist, Chuck Close, and Alex Katz.
Through Loewy’s lens, the book reveals intimate perspectives on how artists shape and inhabit their studios, offering both visual documentation and a deeper sense of the creative process. The foreword is written by independent curator Dorothea Strauss, who also engages Loewy in conversation about the project.
To The Artists stands as a rare photographic journey into the studios of some of today’s most influential artists, blending portraiture, environment, and insight into contemporary art practice.
